Our Guides plan and implement the Guidepost Montessori curriculum, and support your child’s learning and development. For now, HB385 calls for anyone found violating this proposed legislation will be given seven days to remove any inappropriate books containing nudity or sex from its children’s section or else face misdemeanor charges. This applies to public and school libraries and allows any person to report inappropriate books to officials and the district attorney. Librarians are worried about the “chilling effect” on speech and reading if Alabama lawmakers follow through and pass a bill that would police librarians if they don’t remove supposedly “obscene” books in schools and public libraries. Your Support is the bridge from homelessness to hope – meeting basic needs such as housing, food, physical & mental health care!

There is an outdoor space at every Guidepost Montessori Children’s House, and it’s used every day for children to learn and play. The outdoor area may include a sandbox, garden, tools, and activities for the children. I quickly learned that coursework is performed more outside of class than in, so I had to make time for reading, studying, written work, and research papers.

We are available to you seven days a week, 24 hours a day, every day of the year even after you leave the house and return home. Absolutely – movement is a fundamental part of every day at Children’s House. Every morning starts with movement, games, or yoga to give the children an opportunity to stretch and move.
How will you keep my child safe?

We understand the importance of a supportive “home away from home” for our families during this difficult time – and this is why we provide more than just a place to sleep. Our exclusive Brain Connect curriculum series is designed around 5 standards of brain development, and ensures your child progresses toward important developmental goals. Our schools are equipped with security cameras throughout all classrooms and the lobby.

Young people receive a nutritious meal, take a shower with new personal care products, receive new clothes, and sleep in a warm, safe bed. They are then connected to supportive services that will help them thrive. Child care costs have been growing rapidly; wages for child care workers remain low.
MKCA worked for free on this project and received donations to build a bright space for learning and story time in a once-unused mezzanine. The rounded bookshelf acts as a focal point and protective screen from the rest of the building, and a colorful Studio Proba rug blends with equally variegated and geometric seating by forward designers like Egg Collective and Fernando Mastrangelo. Our Family Rooms provide an oasis for parents and caregivers inside the hospital, giving them a chance to sleep, shower, and connect with other families just steps away from their child's hospital bed. Having developed a method for teaching intellectually disabled children, Montessori wanted to apply it to those without learning disabilities. In 1906 she was offered rooms in an apartment building in the slum-ridden San Lorenzo district of Rome.

Housing Programs
Those who care for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities are vital for the healthy functioning of our economy. Access to affordable, high-quality care allows individuals to enter the labor force, reduce absenteeism at work, and retain more of their income to spend on basic necessities like food and housing. You will most likely see the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and your child's Lead Guide or Assistant Guide on a daily basis. The Head of School is responsible for leading the entire campus, with support from the Assistant Head of School. They ensure the delivery of an exceptional Montessori program and help build a strong community among staff, parents and children. At Guidepost Montessori, Children's House teachers are called Lead Guides and Assistant Guides (this helps highlight the fact that we believe the child is at the center of the learning process, not the adult).
Child care prices rose 210 percent—nearly three times as fast as the overall price index (74 percent)—from 1990 to 2019. While child care worker pay has seen recent increases, the median pay for a child care worker in 2022 was still under $30,000 per year. Persistently low wage prospects make attracting and retaining workers difficult, and issues with recruitment and retention can limit the supply of high-quality care, as discussed above. We welcome children from birth to 18 years across more than 130 locations globally.

Applying for financial assistance is open to all families and can be done at any stage in the enrollment process. If there is no space in the school you are interested in, or you’d like to enroll your child in a school which is in its pre-open stage, you can join our waitlist. If you already have one child enrolled at our school and would like to enroll their sibling, you will gain higher waitlist priority when you pay the pre-registration fee. Government-mandated protocols differ from state to state, especially regarding the prevention of COVID-19 transmission. Please check with your local school to get more information about their specific protocols, such as whether they encourage children to wear masks. For more information about what your child will learn at the Children's House, please check out our Guidepost Montessori curriculum for children ages 3 to 6 years old.
If there is a space available at your local Children's House, you will be invited to fill out a registration form and pay the applicable fee. You will then be contacted by the Assistant Head of School, who will guide you through the rest of the process. By the end of their time at the Children's House, our students tend to excel beyond any adult's expectations, developing strong executive functioning and problem-solving STEM skills. Every child is a unique individual, and will learn different things at different rates.
All Guidepost Montessori schools have received accreditation by the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission. Cognia is a non-profit organization working in over 80 countries that provides quality assurance for schools, schools districts and education service providers. The Montessori Method is an approach to learning which was developed by Dr Maria Montessori. Our Guidepost Montessori schools follow this teaching method by encouraging children to develop self-motivation and independence. We focus on the growth of the whole child, rather than individual aspects only, such as academic development.
Through our partnership with Party Pepper Uppers, guests can start their party from a Birthday or Way to Go bags. Thanks to LightZ of Hope, we light up a colorful disco ball at the Front Desk to announce good news. Our “Help Yourself” program allows guests to take what they need of available items. We keep communal food, condiments and beverages in the kitchens for families to grab as needed. We also offer basic amenities, toiletries, games, swag and more at our Front Desk.
Since then, the governor has imposed hiring controls as an added effort to control spending. "We want to be cautious, but also want to be able to do the local investments as well that we have done in the past as much as we possibly could," Michlewitz told reporters after the vote. Representatives tacked on less spending via amendments than they did to last year's budget, and a shade less than the $108.5 million average between fiscal years 2022 and 2024 as calculated by the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. The reasons behind homelessness are multifaceted, and the most at-risk individuals within our communities are often the most vulnerable youths.
